WORKING WITH THE POEM

1.What are the games or human activities which use trees, or in which trees also 'participate'?

Ans:-The games which use tree are ‘Hide and Seek’ and ‘Swinging’. Human beings take rest in the cool shade of tree. It gives comfort in summer. Also it gives fruits and timber.

2. (i) "Trees are to make no shade in winter." What does this mean? (Contrast this line with the line immediately before it.)

Ans:-Some trees shade their leaves in winter and so they don’t give shade in winter. Consequently they give warm in winter. The line immediately before it refers to the comfort of summer which is provided by its cool shade.

(ii) "Trees are for apples to grow on, or pears." Do you agree that one purpose of a tree to have fruit on it? Or do you think this line is humorous?

Ans:-It is absolutely true that trees are for apples or pears to grow on. I agree that one purpose of the tree is to bear fruits.

3. With the help of your partner, try to rewrite some lines in the poem, or add new ones of your own as in the following examples.

Trees are for birds to build nests in.

Trees are for people to sit under.

Now try to compose a similar poem about water, or air.

Ans:- Water gives us life which is very costly

We need it always and mostly,

We cannot do our work faster

Unless we get good quantity of water,

Water help us to take my bath

It helps us to clean my path,

It help us in river when swimming

It help us in sail when dreaming.
