The Squirrel : ncert solution class 7

Working with the poem.
1. Why does the poet say the squirrel “wore a question mark for tail”? How would you describe its tail?
Ans:-The poet says the squirrel "wore a question mark for tail" because its tail looks exactly like a question mark or a mark of interrogation(?). Its tail indicates the mark of punctuation that comes at the very end of an interrogative sentence.
2. Do we usually say that animals ‘wear’ a tail? What do we say? (Think: Does an animal wear a coat? Consult a dictionary if you like, and find out ‘wear’ is used in different ways.)
Ans:-No, we don't usually say that animals 'wear' a tail. When we wear something such as clothes etc. we have them on our body or part of our body. When we wear our hair or beard in a particular way we have it cut or styled in that way. Sometimes 'wear’ is used to indicate the emotion which is worn for the time being. We can say he wears a smile.
3. “He liked to tease and play”. Who is teasing whom? How?

Ans:-He likes to tease and play. The squirrel is teasing the person with whom he is playing. He is teasing the person by running around the tree and changing its directions nimbly or quickly.
