1. Why did Swami Haridas say Tansen was 'talented'?

Ans:- Swami Haridas understood the talent of Tansen when he heard his roaring like a tiger at the time of his rest in the forest with his disciples. He found that the boy was able to imitate the voices of animals and birds. So he said that Tansen was talented.

2. Why did Akbar ask Tansen to join his court?

Ans:- Akbar experienced that Tansen was a great singer. He was extremely pleased with his singing, so he asked Tansen to join his court.

3. How do we know that Akbar was fond of Tansen? Give two reasons.

Ans:-We know that Akbar was fond of Tansen. The two reasons are as follows.

(a).    He has been a good disciple of Swami Haridas so Akbar had no doubt about his talent. 

(b)  Akbar himself experienced his singing melodious songs which pleased Akbar very much.

4. What did the other courtiers feel about Tansen?

Ans:- Akbar was so pleased with the singing of Tansen that he often visited his home to enjoy music. Tansen himself composed different Ragas. Ultimately he was appointed as a court singer by Akbar. In the court he proved his skills and talents. He was rewarded several times by the emperor. So the other courtiers were jealous of him. They wanted to ruin Tansen by executing a heinous conspiracy.

 Ans:- If Raga Deepak is sung properly the singer is burnt to ashes.

 (ii) Why did Tansen's enemies want him to sing the Raga?

 Ans:-Tansen’s enemies wanted him to be ruined so they wanted him to sing the Raga.

6. Why did Tansen agree to sing Raga Deepak?

Ans:- Tansen agreed to sing Raga Deepak because he was not able to disobey his loving emperor. Secondly, he had got an opportunity to prove his skill.

7. (i) What steps did he take to save himself?

Ans:- He requested the emperor to provide some time. He was allowed for the same. He then taught his daughter Saraswati and her friend Rupwati how to sing Raga Megh.

 (ii) Did his plan work? How?

Ans:-Yes, his plan worked well. His singing Raga Megh made the environment extremely hot and lighted the lamp. At the very same time the two girls began singing Raga Megh. Consequently the rain started falling down and he was saved from burning to ashes.
