WORKING WITH THE POEM (page 97)
1. Fans don't talk, but it is possible to imagine that they do.
What is it, then, that sounds like the fan's chatter?
Ans:- Fans are objects who cannot talk like human beings. They are lifeless. Sometimes it as a motor makes unpleasant sound the very that sound is called ‘chatter’ by the poet.
2. Complete the following sentences.
(i) The chatter is electrical because the fan is rotated by electrical power which shows that oiling has become necessary for the fan.                                                           
(ii) It is mysterious because we cannot make any sense out of this continuous sound.                                                          
3. What do you think the talking fan was demanding?
Ans:- I think the talking fan was demanding oiling to run smoothly and peacefully(noiselessly).
4. How does an electric fan manage to throw so much air when it is switched on?
Ans:-An electric fan manages to throw much air due to its curved three or four blades. When it is switched on they run very fast and throw air with force.
5. Is there a 'talking fan' in your house? Create a dialogue between the fan and a mechanic.
Ans:- Fan: I am hungry.
Mechanic: What do you need?
Fan: I need oiling.
Mechanic: Why?
Fan:-I am not able to move very fast.
Mechanic: Come down and get your energy.

Fan: Thanks.
